Alleged drunk driver kills man heading home from work in Ohio

Drivers in Ohio can control many things when they are on the road. Adhering to traffic laws, operating their vehicles in a safe and sensible manner, making certain the vehicle is in proper working condition and wearing their seatbelts are all important precautions. There are certain factors that are, unfortunately, out of a driver's control, such as encountering a drunk driver. Those who are injured or lost loved ones in fatal accidents because of a drunk driver need to be aware of what to do after the incident and how to move forward.

A 22-year-old woman was recently arrested and charged with driving under the influence after she crashed her car into another vehicle on the interstate. The apparent drunk driving accident occurred when the woman was driving her 2014 Honda Odyssey the wrong way on the road and hit a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. The 47-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet was driving home from his job when the accident happened. He was killed.

During the investigation, law enforcement gave the woman a breathalyzer test to determine the amount of alcohol in her system and it came to 0.122. Authorities also believe that the woman might have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the car collision. She was tested for that as well. Police say she admitted to having had 4 or 5 alcoholic drinks prior to the crash. She is facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide.

When there is a car accident and a fatality, the family left behind will have a lot to consider. The person who died might have been an integral part of a family whose presence will be missed personally, emotionally and financially. In this case, the man was returning home from work when he was killed.

When a car accident involves a driver who has been drinking, there is a chance that it will become the worst case scenario and lead to a fatality. Because of the numerous legal issues involved in these situations, the family of a deceased car accident victim should call an attorney who has experience handling these cases.
