Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable in a traffic collision because there is almost no protection accorded to those who are not in a vehicle. This is when a fatal accident can happen.
A recent early morning hit-and-run accident in Dayton killed a pedestrian. The accident happened at around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Nill and Haskins avenues. Law enforcement and emergency personnel were called to help the 39-year-old victim, but he was declared dead at the site of the crash. Although the driver fled the scene, a vehicle was found which is believed to have been involved in the crash. Law enforcement authorities have yet to find the driver and the investigation is ongoing.
When a family suffers the loss of a loved one, especially in a sudden and inexplicable fashion such as a hit and run, the emotional and personal upheaval can lead to short- and long-term problems.
