Fatal workplace accident kills Honda contract worker in Ohio

In Ohio, it is an unfortunate reality that there will occasionally be a workplace accident in which people are injured or killed. With any fatal accident, there are numerous issues that the loss of a loved one will create. This situation can be worse when it is a fatal workplace accident because it is, in general, completely unexpected to say goodbye to a family member when he or she leaves for work and does not come home.

A 61-year-old contract worker for Honda died in a recent fatal workplace accident shortly after he began his shift. According to investigators, the man had clocked into work right before the incident. The accident was a result of him having been hit by a forklift. The operator of the forklift, also a contractor, carried a trash bucket on the machine, and investigators think that this might have interfered with his ability to see. The accident happened at approximately 7:35 a.m. and the victim suffered a crushed skull. The victim was from Michigan and had been living in Ohio.

With a wrongful death incident on the job, the family will be confronted with numerous factors that they must navigate. There will, of course, be an emotional impact with the loss of a loved one in an unexpected fashion. There will also be financial ramifications that go beyond the funeral costs. A person who died on the job will likely have been a financial contributor to the household. Without that paycheck coming in, the loved ones left behind might not know how they are going to make ends meet. Even if there is an insurance policy or an offer of compensation from the employer, that is rarely enough to help the family over the long term. This is why it is important to know one's rights.

In this accident, a man who was working as a contractor for Honda died as a result of having been hit by a forklift. Considering the circumstances of this accident and that there was no video surveillance of it happening, it is even more imperative that the family have legal help with the investigation. Speaking to an attorney can provide that assistance in moving forward with a legal case for compensation.
