Man working on landfill dies in fatal workplace accident

Unfortunately, accidents can happen at any time in any circumstance in Ohio. Some of these can result in the loss of a loved one in a fatal accident. While these accidents can often seem random, there are certain activities and jobs that place people in danger. Those working in construction and with large machinery are vulnerable to fatal workplace accidents. Families who have experiences the loss of a loved one in an accident at work need to be fully knowledgeable about the various issues that can arise and how to pursue compensation after it has happened.

One such incident occurred when a man working at a landfill died in a recent accident. Emergency services were called at around 7:45 p.m. to investigate the incident. According to reports, a 38-year-old man was operating a bulldozer and trying to remove an excavator from a pit using a tow strap. As he was in the process of doing this task, the tow strap apparently broke. This caused the rope to became wrapped around the bulldozer, hitting the man. When emergency crews arrived, the man was declared dead at the scene.

When there is an accident in which a person is killed on the job, there are numerous factors that the family left behind must take into consideration. First, the accident has to be fully investigated to determine who was at fault. Then, they have to think about how the loss will affect them not just personally and emotionally but financially as well.

People who are dealing with the loss of a loved one in an unexpected fashion will often be so distraught that they fail to take such issues into consideration. Included is how they will make ends meet and if the inevitable settlement offer from the company's insurer will be sufficient to take care of them in the future.

In this case, a man was working on a landfill when the equipment he was using failed and he died as a result. Given that there are many possible causes to this fatality from the tow strap being faulty to potential negligence on the site itself, the family needs to protect itself and consider what recourses they have through a civil action.
